Entries for the 10th Lincoln Santa Fun Run are officially open, with a record 2,500 people expected to run and walk around Bailgate in their Santa costumes.

This year’s event on Sunday, December 13 will see runners set off at 11.30am from inside Lincoln Castle on two laps of the course in the uphill part of the city.

The event has been sponsored by the first time by event suppliers Running Imp, who have taken over the baton from previous sponsors Danwood.

Entries have been frozen at £10 and can be submitted via the official website from next week, but anybody wanting to download an entry form to post can visit the Running Imp website for details.

Every participant receives their own Santa suit to keep free of charge, and children under five can take part for free.

The official event charities for 2015 are the Alzheimer’s Society, Candles, Ethan Maul ‘Up Yours To Cancer’, Linkage Community Trust, L.I.V.E.S., Matt’s Fund, Samaritans Lincoln, St Andrew’s Hospice, Umbrellas and Rotary Charities.

The 2014 Santa Run generated £83,681 for charity, and this year organisers are confident that even more can be raised.

“As this is the tenth anniversary of the race, we’ve set everybody the challenge of raising £10 each,” said Race Director Chris Illsley.

“If everyone can raise this relatively small amount, we will hit our fundraising target and make a wonderful difference to these very important local charities.

“We are sure the event will sell out so we are encouraging people to enter early to guarantee their place.”
