In pictures: Exclusive RAF Coningsby sunset photo shoot

Stunning backdrop: Photographers were given a rare opportunity to take pictures of aircraft in the fading light at RAF Coningsby during a spectacular photo shoot on September 29.

Enthusiastic photographers were given a rare opportunity to take pictures of aircraft in the fading light at RAF Coningsby during a spectacular photo shoot on Tuesday, September 29.

The evening was only open to 50 photographers and videographers and was the first shoot of its kind at the base.

Aircraft pictured included tornados and typhoons from 11, 29 and 41 Squadron, which are all celebrating their centenary.

As previously reported, Prince William visited the station in September, observing a centenary parade before meeting a selection of personnel, engineers and veterans.

Also present at the photo shoot was a special Typhoon marking the Battle of Britain.

The event was staged to celebrate Lincolnshire Day, on October 1.
