Lincoln kids encouraged to take festive snaps for Mayor’s Christmas card competition

Christmas cards: With Winter fast approaching, the Mayor of Lincoln is looking for festive photos to adorn the front of his Christmas cards.

With Winter fast approaching, the Mayor of Lincoln is looking for festive photos to adorn the front of his Christmas cards.

Councillor Andrew Kerry is running a competition for children for the best photo using the theme of A Christmassy Lincoln.

The contest is open to all kids in the city and there will be a winner from each age category – 4-11 and 12-16-years-old.

The winners will see their image used on the Mayor’s Christmas cards and will also get the honour of joining him and the stars of Lincoln’s Theatre Royal pantomime Sleeping Beauty, Vicki Michelle and Martin Daniels, at the Christmas lights switch on due to take place on Thursday, November 19.

Councillor Kerry said: “This is a fantastic competition and I’d love to see how creative the youngsters in the city are with their cameras.

“They can send in an image they’ve taken during a previous Christmas or take a new photograph. I’ve put tinsel around my desk in the Guildhall to show what can be done, but I’m sure there will be many more exciting ideas flooding in.

“I can’t wait to take a look at the entries and pick a winner. I’ve no doubt it will be a very difficult job.”

All photographs must be taken in Lincoln and taken by the participant.

Entries must be submitted electronically in either a pdf or jpeg document before 5pm on Friday, November 13 with a completed parental consent form and child’s name, age and name of their school.

Forms can be downloaded from City of Lincoln Council’s website and entries should be emailed to [email protected]

Twelve runners up will be selected and their entries will be used on the council’s Facebook and Twitter in the run-up to Christmas.
