Lincoln students learn the trade as Hustle star opens £400k development

Opening in style: Hustle star Adrian Lester official opened the new drama block at a Lincoln school.

A new £400,000 drama block was officially opened by TV and stage actor Adrian Lester OBE at the Sir Robert Pattinson School in North Hykeham.

The actor, best known for his role as Mickey Stone in Hustle, agreed to come along to the opening and host a question and answer session for the students after an invite from one of the drama teachers at the school.

The much needed new facilities included a brand new LED rig, sound system and sprung floor in the dedicated drama and dance space, as well as enhancements of the music suit.

They have been designed to ensure students are provided with the room and resources to accommodate Sir Robert Pattinson School’s continued growth.

The £400,000 investment was provided by Lincolnshire County Council, City of Lincoln Council and North Kesteven District Council.

County Councillor Patricia Bradwell also attended the event and officially opened the science block.

During the question and answer session, Adrian Lester OBE advised the students on acting techniques and told them how he believed a good education was very important.

He said drama had the power to “enable young people to empathise and adapt to so many different situations” and told them he would be happy to teach drama.

Head teacher Helen Renard said: “The staff and the students were absolutely thrilled to have an actor of Adrian’s calibre and profile to open our new drama facilities.

“He was fantastic with all the pupils and had some really valuable advice and tips for them. I’ve no doubt this day will be remembered for some time to come by everyone at the school and will certainly inspire many of the students.”
