Burglar jailed for over two years after sneaking into Lincoln home

Sentenced: A Lincoln burglar has been jailed for two years and four months.

A man who burgled a house in Lincoln has been jailed for two years and four months.

Daniel Nichols, 25, of St Rumbold Street in Lincoln, was sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court on Monday, December 14 after pleading guilty to the burglary at Walnut Place earlier this year.

The court heard that on May 21 this year, Nichols used a small window that was left open in the lounge at the property to climb in and steal a wallet from inside.

DC Adam Petty, of Lincoln CID and the officer leading the enquiry, said: “I’m satisfied with the sentence given to Nichols because it means he won’t be able to commit this type of offence again for a very long time.

“Burglary is a crime that can be very upsetting and unsettling for victims.

“To have someone in your home can be really distressing and some people who commit these types of offences don’t seem to take that into account.

“I hope the sentence passed on to Nichols gives him the time and space to reflect on that.”
