Storm Desmond to lash Lincolnshire over weekend

Strong winds: Lincolnshire is predicted to be battered by severe gales during Saturday and overnight into Sunday.

The Met Office has predicted that Lincolnshire will be battered by severe gales during Saturday and overnight into Sunday.

A yellow weather warning has been issued, with the worst conditions expected on Saturday afternoon and evening as the full effect of Storm Desmond is felt.

Gusts of 60mph are likely, with winds of 70 mph possible even at lower levels, strong enough potentially to bring down trees and cause damage to buildings.

Motorists are being warned that travel disruption on some routes is possible.

Visitors to the 2015 Lincoln Christmas Market should also be aware of potential for high winds.
