Warning issued as freezing fog descends on Lincoln

Fog warning: A Met Office yellow warning has been enforced as a corridor of thick fog descends on Lincoln and the surrounding areas this morning.

A Met Office yellow warning has been enforced as a corridor of thick fog descends on Lincoln and the surrounding areas this morning.

The ‘be aware’ warning is in place until 10am.

Patches of fog and freezing fog will become more widespread throughout the morning with visibility falling below 100 metres in places.

Motorists are being warned that the conditions may cause disruptions to travel and some public transportation.

The Chief forecaster’s assessment reads: “Clear skies, light winds and rapidly falling temperatures have allowed patches of fog and freezing fog to form.

“These are expected to become widespread overnight, but will start to clear southern counties around dawn as wind speeds start to increase.”
