A man has been charged with conspiring to steal after a 93-year-old Lincolnshire resident had his bank card stolen and £23,000 taken from his account.

Ion Anghel, 48, of Sherwood Street in Wolverhampton, was detained on Tuesday, March 8, and charged on Thursday, March 10 for offences between the start of October 2015 and the end of January.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear before Grantham Magistrates’ Court on March 14.

The investigation into the distraction theft, which took place in a NatWest on St Peter’s Hill in Grantham on December 14, continues.
