Stand-up comedian Jimmy Carr announces show in Lincoln

Not to be missed: Controversial stand-up comedian and television host Jimmy Carr will perform in Lincoln later this year.

Controversial stand-up comedian and television host Jimmy Carr will perform in Lincoln later this year.

The 43-year-old, best known for his live performances and as the host of Channel 4 panel show 8 Out of 10 Cats, has been booked for the Engine Shed on Monday, December 12, as part of his ‘The Best Of, Ultimate, Gold, Greatest Hits Tour’.

Carr has been on the stand-up scene for a decade and a half, performing nine sell-out tours, and playing nearly 2,000 shows to over two million people across four continents.

He is renowned for his signature laugh, deadpan delivery and edgy one-liners, which have seen him win the British Comedy Award for ‘Best Live Stand-up Tour’.

Michael Redpath, Entertainments Manager, said: “Jimmy Carr is a household name, so to be able to add him to the long list of comedians to have graced our stage is brilliant.

“He hasn’t been to Lincoln for a number of years, so we’re glad to be bringing him back to the city.”

Tickets priced at £27.50 go on sale from 9am on Wednesday, March 9, and can be purchased from the Engine Shed’s website or by visiting the Students’ Union Box Office.

Pre-sale tickets will go live at 9am on Tuesday, March 8.

The comedian is no stranger to controversy, with some jokes being criticised by the press for being unacceptable.

His involvement in an alleged tax avoidance scheme which was revealed in 2012 also caused some awkward headlines for the comedian, who eventually pulled out of the scheme and issued an apology.
