Branston Community Academy has won two awards following its exceptional GSCE results last year.

The GSCE results put the school in the top 10% of non-selective schools across the whole of the UK.

The academy celebrated a strong set of GSCE results last summer, with a number of pupils achieving at least five A*- C grades including Maths and English.

Peter Beighton, Headteacher at the Academy is “delighted” with the news of the two SSAT Educational Outcomes awards, which will be presented at a Birmingham ceremony in May.

He said: “We are delighted that the academy has been nationally recognised for the exceptional performance of its students in 2015 public examinations.

“The staff, students and parents are rightly immensely proud the school is in the top 10% of schools nationally for progress made by its students and is in the top 10% of non-selective schools for highest grades achieved by its students.

“The award is an acknowledgement of the great commitment by the whole school community to provide the environment and the learning to help students to reach their potential.”

Results for both Maths and English soared from 11% to 70%.

The results in Maths were particularly impressive, with the percentage of C grades and above growing by 14% to hit a record breaking 84% for the academy.

Sue Williamson, Chief Executive of SSAT said: “It’s my great pleasure to commend Branston Community on their excellent 2015 performance.

“I hope that SSAT’s Educational Outcomes awards will highlight the professionalism, commitment and hard work of the leaders, teachers and students at Branston Community Academy.”
