Serial Lincoln flasher jailed after exposing himself outside school
A man who exposed himself outside a Lincoln school has been jailed for eight months after he failed to co-operate with the probation service. John Paul Carlisle, 37, was given a three year community order in June after a judge warned him that it was his last chance to avoid going to prison. But a…
But a court was told Carlisle displayed a poor attitude towards the order and failed to attend at least four probation sessions believing “he had done nothing wrong.”
Carlisle, who admitted masturbating in the window of his home opposite the Lincoln Minster School, was re-sentenced on Wednesday, August 17, after the probation service said he was in breach of the order.
Lincoln Crown Court heard the alarm was raised after a woman who was returning to her car after dropping off some books at the school noticed Carlisle exposing himself in the window of his home on Upper Lindum Street.
The woman was so “disgusted” by what she saw that she immediately contacted the school after driving home.
Two members of school staff went in to the street and could see Carlisle still masturbating in the bedroom window of his flat.
The court was told Carlisle appeared to get more excited when children walked past the school.
Police attended Carlisle’s address in Upper Lindum Street and he was arrested.
During interview he admitted carrying out the act and said he was looking at older female students or mothers.
Representing himself in court Carlisle said he failed to attend the probation appointments after being unable to wake up.
Carlisle told the court: “I am sorry for what I have done, I have had problems all my life with that kind of thing.”
He added: “I don’t find life easy. I have had mental health problems and I had a tough upbringing.”
Carlisle admitted a charge of outraging public decency on February 24 this year.
Passing sentence, Judge Simon Hirst told Carlisle he would keep his promise of sending him to prison.
Judge Hirst said: “On June 24 I was very stark with you. I gave you a choice of imprisonment or a three year community order.
“I keep my promises.”
