Police are searching for witnesses after an elderly man was attacked in broad daylight and left unconscious on a Stamford street. Police are searching for witnesses after an elderly man was attacked in broad daylight and left unconscious on a Stamford street.

Officers say they believe the 70-year-old victim was walking home at around 4pm on Sussex Road on Wednesday, July 20 when he was assaulted.

The unprovoked attack left the man unconscious and he was taken to Peterborough hospital for an injury to his face.

The attacker was described as a white male, of a skinny build and in his mid 20s. He was wearing a black t-shirt.
