A 60-seater fish and chip restaurant and takeaway will open next month in a village south of Lincoln.
Cod’s Kitchen will open in Metheringham in mid-November, creating 10 jobs.
In addition to locally sourced fish and chips, the restaurant will serve Hereford beef steaks, homemade pies and vegetarian dishes.
General manager and head chef Jarrod Sellers has taken out a five-year lease on the property, facilitated by commercial estate agents Banks Long & Co, and with the help of his mum Sharon and dad Phil.
The new restaurant is Jarrod’s first business venture after having worked for 15 years as a head chef within the hospitality and catering industries and at a private school.
Jarrod said: “The takeaway side will boast products of restaurant-standard, available for takeaway, whilst the restaurant will offer a variety of fantastic fresh fish dishes, by way of a more extensive menu at weekends.
“We will be serving lunches, evening meals and afternoon teas and offering a loyalty card scheme to encourage extra interest.”
Sharon added: “Metheringham has a good catchment area, which has given us the confidence to create a 60-seater restaurant, as well as offering takeaway sales.”

Schools and universities in Lincolnshire recognise the potential benefits, but also the concerns, over the use of artificial intelligence.
The results of the government’s first ever Call for Evidence on Artificial Intelligence in Education’ report were published on Tuesday, November 28. It was open for 10 weeks and closed on August 23 this year, with 567 responses received during that time. Most respondents were “broadly optimistic” about the use of GenAI in education.
Almost two months on from Network Rail stating it had implemented “new cleaning regimes” for its railway bridge on Brayford Wharf East, the same concerns of graffiti, dirt and moss growth are continuing — and we are no clearer on how regularly the bridge is cleaned.
The bridge, which opened in 2019 in a bid to improve public safety on the railway crossing, is regularly used by many commuters and residents in Lincoln, but it has been the topic of a cleanliness discussion for many months now.
