Five men are due to be questioned by police following reports that a group of ‘killer clowns’ chased two young boys in Scunthorpe.

As previously reported, two 12-year-old boys were allegedly left frightened and shaken after being followed by five teenage men dressed as clowns in the Lincoln Gardens area at around 8.20pm on Thursday, October 13.

The men are said to have got out of a silver Audi and Volkswagen and followed the boys, whilst “shouting and screaming” at them.

A further sighting of four men in a silver vehicle wearing clown masks was reported around half an hour later.

Unconfirmed reports from eyewitnesses also suggested that the men were driving around with hammers, bats and knives.

Officers investigating reports of the group dressed as clowns have identified five people believed to be responsible.

Two men – an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old – have been voluntarily interviewed in connection with the incident.

The others, an 18-year-old man and two 15-year-old boys, are set to be spoken to in the coming days.

The circumstances of the incident are still being established.
