Extra 25,000 train seats and buses to be added for Lincoln Christmas Market

More than 25,000 extra train seats and added bus services are being provided to visitors of the Lincoln Christmas Market.
The market, which takes place between Thursday, December 1 and Sunday, December 4, will this year feature around 300 stalls and welcome crowds similar to last year’s total of 250,000 visitors.

Extra bus services will be put on from the bus station on Tentercroft Street up to Lincoln Cathedral throughout the Christmas Market weekend.
Claire McDowall, Principal Events and Culture Officer for City Council, said: “Using the local bus services from Stagecoach is an easy way to travel to the market.
“We hope that both locals and visitors take advantage of the services including the park and ride from the Lincolnshire Showground.”
Bus services 7 and 8 will serve the market with extra services being provided in the evening.
All Stagecoach East Midlands services will run from Stand G at the Tentercroft Street Bus Station and Broadgate to Pottergate at the cathedral.
Fares will be £1.20 for an adult single and £2.20 return, 60p for a child single and £1.10 return, Lincoln Dayrider, Megarider, (& Plus), MegaConnect and East Midlands Day Out tickets can also be used.
Thursday and Friday
Between 9.40am and 6.10pm Services 7 and 8 will operate every 10 minutes to and from the Bus Station and the Christmas Market.
Between 6.30pm and 9.45pm Service 7 will operate every 15 minutes to and from the Bus Station with the last bus at 10pm from the Christmas Market
Saturday
Between 9.40am and 3.10pm Services 7 and 8 will operate every 10 minutes to and from the Bus Station and Christmas Market.
Between 3.30pm and 9.45pm Service 7 and 8 will operate every 15 minutes from the Bus Station with the last bus at 10pm from the Christmas Market
Sunday
Between 9.30am and 5.45pm Service 7 will operate every 15 minutes to and from the Bus Station and Christmas Market, with the last bus departing the Market at 6pm.
East Midlands Trains will be providing more than 25,000 extra seats on journeys to Lincoln, as well as extended services to Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham.
Rob Mercer, Area Station Manager for East Midlands Trains, said: “Lincoln Christmas Market is one of the most popular events anywhere on our network and we are delighted to help bring thousands of visitors from across the country and beyond to the city over the weekend.”
Customers are advised to book tickets in advance to avoid queues on the day.

Virgin Trains will run four additional services to and from Lincoln to Doncaster and Leeds to support the annual Christmas market with tickets starting from just £7.50 one way in Standard Class when booked online.
