Lest we forget. Remembrance Day commemorates soldiers who lost their lives in wars across the world. Remembrance Sunday, which is on November 13, marks the day World War One ended. At 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, back in 1918, WWI came to an end. Here are just some of the Remembrance Day events taking place…

At 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, back in 1918, WWI came to an end.

Armistice Day Service

Remembrance Service

City of Lincoln Act of Remembrance

Guided Tour: International Bomber Command Memorial

  • Where: Internation Bomber Command Memorial, Canwick Hill

People will be able to place poppies, have guided tours and meet the archive team.

Multi-agency commemoration

  • When: Friday, November 11, 10.30am
  • Where: Scampton Church

This will entail the erection of arches along the pathway to the church which will be covered in poppies of all sizes.

These have been made by the children under the supervision of ‘Curiosity Creators’, who bring art and curiosity to new spaces.

Afternoon of reflection

  • When: Saturday, November 12, 2pm-4.30pm
  • Where: Scampton Church

Visitors are invited to view the historical building, poppy displays and the Commonwealth war graves adorned with poppies. Refreshments will be available.

Special Remembrance service

  • When: Sunday, November 13, 10.15am
  • Where: Scampton Church

This will see a special service of remembrance amongst multitudes of poppies, which will be held in the church and around the war memorial.
