Traders at the Lincoln Christmas Market have spoken out in frustration with street pedlars who ‘cashed in’ on the event for free, but local authorities say there is nothing they can do.

Official market traders have paid thousands of pounds to showcase their wares at the event having to go through rigorous health and safety checks, fire safety checks and had strict trading standards guidelines.

However pedlars wheeled in their goods to sell them to the estimated 260,000 visitors, free of charge.
