A woman has been assaulted in a cemetery in Cleethorpes.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault in the Trinity Road cemetery on January 2.

The incident happened at around 3.15pm and is said to have involved a man and woman known to each other.

It is alleged that some kind of verbal dispute took place between the two and the woman was assaulted.

The woman was said to have fallen to the ground leaving her clothing marked with mud.

Witnesses are now being sought to this incident.

In particular, two women who may have been in the area at the same time and witnessed the incident are asked to come forward as police seek to confirm the circumstances.

The women mentioned or anyone else who may have information in connection with this enquiry is asked to call Humberside Police on 101, quoting crime reference number 2239691.
