A Gainsborough man accused of climbing on top of a moving train in Lincoln while intoxicated is to appear in court this morning.

As reported previously, 38-year-old James Lee Webster was arrested by police on suspicion of obstruction and being intoxicated on the railway after the incident at around 7.30pm on Monday, January 30.

Trains were halted and lines between Lincoln and Newark were closed for two hours following the disturbance. Some 948 minutes of delays were also recorded as a result.

Webster, of Salisbury Street in Gainsborough faces charges at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 23 of climbing onto and obstructing a Northern Rail train, and of entering onto the railways in a state of intoxication.

He also faces accusations of refusing to pay the £6.50 fare.
