A 29-year-old Grimsby woman who died in a crash with a parked car transporter has been named locally as Kate Leithes.

The incident happened at shortly before 9.25pm on Wednesday, February 15 on Peaks Lane, and involved a silver Ford Fiesta.

The front seat passenger was taken to the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver, a 50-year-old local man, was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary with leg injuries.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident and are particularly keen to speak the occupants of a white Seat and a black Peugeot, which were parked close to the Fiesta in the YMCA car park shortly before the incident.

Tributes

A number of tributes have been left to Kate from friends and family.

Adam Danby said: “Rip Kate Leithes.

“Such a horrible loss at such a young age, condolences to family and close friends.”

Sarah Hammerton added: “Rip Kate Leithes, so many memories, can’t believe I am writing this.

“Fly high mate xxxx.”
