Construction work has begun on the new £30 million Transport Hub on the former site of the Lincoln Bus Station.

Following the completion of piling rig work last month, contractors have now begun putting up steel frames for both the 1,000-space multi-storey car park and new bus station.

The new bus station is expected to open by December this year (2017), with the scheme fully complete by February 2018.

Contractors began to tear down the old structure on November 15, 2016, after an eight-week long archeological dig on the site.

The scheme includes:

  • New, state-of-the-art bus station
  • 1,000 space multi-storey car park
  • Pedestrian plaza connecting the new facilities with the train station and the city centre

Road closures on Norman Street, Oxford Street and St Mary’s Street will be in place for another year and a temporary bus station is being operated from Tentercroft Street.
