The City of Lincoln planning committee are set to consider plans for a new 27-bedroom hotel on March 8, which could create up to 20 jobs.

The application has been submitted by Marston Estates Ltd for a two storey Lodge Style hotel, which will compliment The Lincolnshire Poacher pub on Bunkers Hill in Lincoln.

This is the first of two hotels of this style to be decided in and around Lincoln, with the second being proposed for next to The Woodcocks in Burton Waters.

The proposed hotel on Bunkers Hill will comprise a range of family rooms and rooms with disabled access.

Local objections have been raised as to the suitability of the area, however Marston Estates Ltd state in the application that the site has been chosen because it currently operates The Lincolnshire Poacher.

The application states: “People staying at the hotel would have the option of taking breakfast in the pub as well as other meals.

“Whilst there may be other brownfield sites within the city seemingly more appropriate for this type of development the application has to be determined on its own merits.”

Other concerns raised by local residents include parking and worries that should the carpark be full it would mean visitors would use the neighbouring street Sympson Close.

Currently the site includes 120 parking spaces. Post development, this would be reduced to 100.

Additional concerns include excessive noise from the hotel and lorries blocking Symson Close.
