A busy Lincoln junction is among a list of roads in the county to receive improvements thanks to a tranche of government funding.

The Wragby Road/Wolsey Way junction in the north of the city is set to be improved to reduce congestion and improve journey times.

Roads across the county have been selected for improvements thanks to a £5.4 million grant released to Lincolnshire County Council by the government.

The grant, from the Department for Transport’s National Productivity Investment Fund, was awarded to the council in January.

It is designed to help councils to reduce congestion at key locations, upgrade or improve the maintenance of local highway assets, to improve access to employment and housing, and to develop economic and job creation opportunities.

The authority has been drawing up a list of projects that the money will be used for, which includes:

  • A17 Gedney – increased overtaking opportunities to reduce journey times
  • A17 Boston Road, Holbeach – improvements to the roundabout to reduce congestion and improve journey times
  • Wolsey Way/Wragby Road, Lincoln – junction improvements to reduce congestion and improve journey times.
  • A17 Sleaford – embankment works to improve this key route.
  • Improvements to transport infrastructure, including an extension of the system providing real-time information on bus services, and maintenance of existing bus shelters

In addition, maintenance works will be carried out on various roads across the county, including a large proportion of Louth bypass:

  • Gipsey Lane, Thornton le Moor
  • Haconby Fen, Haconby
  • Herlyn Crescent, Ingoldmells
  • Hobhole Bank, Midville
  • Laura Court, Ingoldmells
  • Long Lane, Owmby by Spital
  • Mill Green Farm Lane, South Kyme
  • North Drove, Swaton
  • Pearson Drove West, Pinchbeck
  • Rippingale Fen, Rippingale
  • Sandilands Close, Sandilands
  •  Scaldgate, Wainfleet All Saints

All the improvements are set to take place over the 2017/18 financial year.

Details on the construction dates will besmeared by the council’s highways department at a later date.
