Two Lincoln pet stores to ban the sale of rabbits over Easter period

This story is over

Two Lincoln Pets at Home stores will be putting a ban on the sale of rabbits during the Easter period due to concerns over impulse buying.

The sale of bunnies at the stores on Tritton Retail Park and the Carlton Centre will be banned from 9am on April 14 until close of business on April 17.

There are a number of Pets at Home stores across the county, including in Scunthorpe, Grimsby, Cleethorpes, Boston, Bourne and Grantham.

Store owners are concerned about impulse buying over the Easter period

Peter Pritchard, chief executive of Pets at Home, said: “We pride ourselves on putting pets before profit so we’ve taken the decision not to sell rabbits during the upcoming Easter weekend.

“Nor will customers be able to adopt rabbits in need of rehoming from our in-store adoption centres.

“Our informative workshops help families understand what’s involved in being a responsible rabbit owner.

“What’s more they’re also a fun and free way for children to get up close and personal with some furry friends during the holidays.”

Fear not, for those of you eager to get up close with the lovable furry friends, Pets at Home will instead have workshops where children can go to during the holidays. For more information visit the website.
