Man arrested after Lincoln robbery attempts and ‘gun’ threat

Police have arrested a 48-year-old man in connection to two attempted robberies in Lincoln city centre yesterday. As reported at the time, the suspect is alleged to have walked into Martins newsagents on Sincil Street and demanded money from the staff. He stated he had a gun, although police have stated no weapon was seen.…

Police have arrested a 48-year-old man in connection to two attempted robberies in Lincoln city centre yesterday.

As reported at the time, the suspect is alleged to have walked into Martins newsagents on Sincil Street and demanded money from the staff.

He stated he had a gun, although police have stated no weapon was seen.

Shortly afterwards a man matching the same description reportedly grabbed a woman from behind on the steps leading from the High Street to the Glory Hole area, towards the Brayford Pool.

Police are continuing to appeal for anyone with information that may help with their investigations.

Detective Inspector Dave Harrop, from Lincoln CID, said: “While the incidents yesterday are very serious, fortunately we rarely see these sort of offences in the city centre.

“Our investigation continues and I would appeal for anyone who has information that can help our enquiries to call 101 or Crimestoppers.”
