Road closures announced for Armed Forces Day 2017 in Cleethorpes

Armed Forces Day has become one of the biggest dates in the Cleethorpes’ calendar, with a number of delays expected as roads are closed for the special event.
Taking place from June 30 – July 2 on Alexandra Road, the event, which is in its ninth year, celebrates the work the armed forces do.
Road closures will be in place across the weekend, though some areas will be closed from the evening of Wednesday, June 28.

Sea View Street and New Road in Cleethorpes, as well as the connecting road between Sea View Street and Wardall Street, will be closed from 6pm on Wednesday, June 28 to 10pm on Sunday, July 2.
Further road closures will be as follows, with signed alternative routes in place throughout the resort:
From 6am Friday, June 30 to 11.59pm Sunday, July 2:

High Cliffe Road (Sea View Street to Humber Street)

A series of temporary restrictions will be in place over the weekend to improve traffic flow in the vicinity of the event, including some no-stopping areas on St Peter’s Avenue.
Parking bays in the following areas will be suspended:
Thursday, June 29 between 7am and 5pm:
Alexandra Road : between Civic Car Park entrance and Knoll Street
6am on Friday, June 30 to 11pm Sunday, July 2:
Alexandra Road (whole length)
6am on Friday, June 30 to 11pm on Saturday, July 1:
Central Prom parking bays, seaward and land side between ‘Jonny Donuts’ and Brighton Slip for the evening firework displays on Friday 30th June and Saturday 1st July.
Saturday, July 1 between 6am and 11pm:
Market Street (including the on street parking area known as Market Place)
St Peters Avenue: Albert Road to Cambridge Street
Wardall Street: between Cambridge Street and Car Park entrance
Cross Street
Short Street
Central Promenade (land side parking bays only)
Monday, July 3 between 7am and 5pm:
Alexandra Road : between Civic Car Park entrance and Knoll Street
Stagecoach public transport busses in Cleethorpes will operate as normal using the Sea Road stops. Services 9, 10 and 17 will be using an alternative route along St Peters Avenue, Thrunscoe Road and Queens Parade.
Some public car parks in the resort will be closed from Wednesday, June 28.

Two Nottingham women who admitted assisting in the management of a brothel which was operating in the north of Lincoln have been spared immediate jail sentences.
Sylvia Chanda, 57, and Lombe Yamelezi, 36, both of High Main Drive, Bestwood, Nottingham, each pleaded guilty to a charge of keeping a brothel between 27 March 2017 and 4 October 2018.
