Plans for 195 homes in Boston have been refused

Councillors have refused plans for 195 new homes near Boston.

At a planning committee meeting on July 18, councillors almost unanimously refused plans for the homes to be built on land north of Middlegate Road in Frampton, bordering the A16.

Nine councillors refused the plans at the meeting, while one abstained.

Plans, submitted by Larkfleet Ltd, would have seen a mixture of one-and-a-half and two storey homes built in the area.

Councillors rejected the plans due to concerns about pollution, an increase in traffic and threats to wildlife.

They were also concerned about protecting the character of the countryside in the area.

Proposals for 215 homes to be built on the site were previously refused at a meeting in January 2017.

However, this has been appealed and will be heard at a six-day public inquiry from September 13, 2017.

These plans were refused because they would “detract from the open fen character and landscape of the open agricultural land” and proposals also “failed to satisfy the flood risk Sequential Test”.
