A Lincoln woman will be shaving her long locks with the support of a friend in order to buy quality wigs for patients going through chemotherapy.

Emma Nuttall, 26 and friend Simon Ward, 39 will shaving their heads on Saturday, August 5 at Fitbox gym in Bracebridge Heath.

Emma was inspired to organise the fundraiser when her cousin Andrew started losing his hair while undergoing treatment for Non Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

The disease is an uncommon form of cancer that develops in the lymphatic system which is part of the immune system.

So far, the pair have raised over £1,200 which will fund six new wigs, however they wish to raise enough funds for ten wigs.

Gym-owner Simon, who heard about Emma’s idea and wanted to get involved, told The Lincolnite: “It wasn’t until Emma and Andrew started looking into wigs that they realised how much they were.

“Some cheap ones can start to look like fancy dress outfits and a good quality one is a few hundred pounds.

“I previously had close family who were diagnosed with cancer, one lost their battle while the other survived but when I heard about Emma’s plans to shave her head I wanted to jump on board and offer her support.”

Simon has said anyone who donates £10 or more will be able to shave part of his hair off if they attend the event and he hopes him and Emma can raise as much money as they can to raise awareness and provide more people with wigs.

Saxilby hairdresser Danny Ricketts of Industry Hair Design will be in charge of the clippers at the fundraiser.

To donate, you can visit Emma’s Just Giving page or Simon’s fundraising page.
