John Robert Thompson has been jailed for over 12 years
A Lincoln man who was convicted of assaulting and raping a woman was today jailed for 12 and half years.
John Robert Thompson, 38, was described as an “arrogant man” by the judge passing sentence on him at Lincoln Crown Court.
Judge Simon Hirst told Thompson he did not appear to regret the ordeal he had put his victim through.
The court heard Thompson, of St Rumbold Street, Lincoln, was found guilty of two assaults and a single charge of rape following a trial earlier this year.
Passing sentence Judge Hirst told Thompson: “You are 38. I have read a pre-sentence report on you. In many ways it confirms my view.
“You are an arrogant man, a man without any remorse whatsoever.”
The court heard Thompson “degraded” and “humiliated” his victim by urinating on her while she was fully clothed and then laughing at her when she was naked.
A witness who saw the woman, who cannot be named, following the rape described her as “broken, distraught, belittled and damaged.”
The court heard Thompson had 27 previous convictions for 63 offences including several assaults and perverting the course of justice.
Karen Walton, mitigating, said the assaults should be treated as part of the overall offence.
She said: “He is a man who had a trial and who is still adamant about his position.
“He is now facing the most serious offence against a woman.
“He is not prepared to express remorse at the moment, he will have a period of reflection in prison.”
Thompson was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
