Police are appealing for witnesses after a dog attacked a small terrier and a woman in the Bracebridge Heath area.

The attack happened at around 8.30pm on July 26 on the Viking Way, just off Ridgeview Road.

Neighbourhood officers received reports that a Yorkshire Terrier was being walked by a woman when they were set upon by a ‘liver coloured dog’.

Police said in an alert to local residents that the Yorkshire Terrier was “very seriously injured”. The lady walking the dog is also understood to have sustained minor injuries to her arms by the dog that carried out the attack.

The offending dog was being walked off the lead by two young males aged around 12, who managed eventually to restrain the dog, police said.
