TV presenter to receive honorary degree at Bishop Grosseteste graduation

Honorary degree: A nationally-recognised TV presenter will be among those receiving honorary degrees from Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln.

Bishop Grosseteste University will honour TV presenter Nicholas Crane as part of two days of graduation ceremonies next week.

Nicholas, 63, best known for presenting BAFTA-winning TV series Coast, will be honoured for recognition for his work as a geographer, explorer, writer and broadcaster on Wednesday, July 19 at 2:30pm at Lincoln Cathedral.

Mr Crane is best known for his work on BBC Television as the presenter of BAFTA-winning TV series Coast.

Dr Giles Gasper will also receive an honorary degree for his work on medieval history at 10.15am that day.

A total of 867 students will graduate across Wednesday, July 19 and Thursday, July 20 at 10:15am and 2:30pm on both days.

Reverend Canon Professor Peter Neil, Vice Chancellor of Bishop Grosseteste University, said: “Graduation day is a special day in the university calendar and we are very much looking forward to celebrating the success of our graduates with their friends and families.”

After the ceremonies the steel band and jazz trio will play music to the guests while they enjoy strawberries and prosecco as well as a vintage bar and ice cream van.
