Monks Road in Lincoln will be closed to through traffic for two weeks for gas main upgrades and resurfacing works.
The maintenance work being carried out by Cadent – formerly National Grid Gas Distribution – will see the road closed to through traffic from the junction with Broadgate to Outer Circle Road.
This will start on Monday, August 7 and end two weeks later on Monday, August 21.
Vehicle access will be maintained for residents and businesses on Monks Road.
Through traffic will be diverted via Lindum Road and Greetwell Road.
Resurfacing will also take place between Allenby Close and Crofton Road from August 7 to 9.
Access arrangements for Monks Road residents and businesses during the closure include:
For residents and businesses on Monks Road, west of Jellicoe Avenue, and on Monks Way, access will be maintained from Broadgate. Access to Monks Way will be maintained via temporary traffic lights.
For residents and businesses on Monks Road, east of Jellicoe Avenue, including the Crofton Road Industrial Estate and Allenby Close, access will be maintained from the Outer Circle end of Monks Road.
During the council’s resurfacing work, access will be maintained up to Crofton Road. Access to Monks Road and Allenby Close will be locally managed through the estate and then via Sherbrook and Bathurst Street.
During these dates there will be no access to the Tower and Hillside Estates via Tower Drive. Instead traffic should get access from Greetwell Road and Roman Pavement.
For residents and businesses of the Hillside and Tower Estates, access will be maintained from Greetwell Road and Roman Pavement or Tower Drive. During the council resurfacing work, from August 7 to 9, there will be no access via Tower Drive.
Instead, traffic should use Greetwell Road and Roman Pavement.
