Vets rescue orphaned baby mouse found surrounded by dead family

He has been named Oliver Twist.

A Lincolnshire veterinary practice came to the rescue of a baby mouse which was found in a nest surrounded by its dead family members.

Adele, a vet at the South Lincolnshire Vet Group in Boston, has now taken on the orphaned mouse and is caring for him until he is able to be released.

The mouse, named Oliver Twist due to his hunger and the fact he is now an orphan, is now on the mend and it is hoped he will make a full recovery.

A spokesperson for the practice posted on their Facebook page: “We would like to show you this adorable little baby mouse which came to us on August 17.

“He was in a bit of a bad way, having been found in a predated nest, with all his siblings and parents dead.

“We didn’t expect him to survive the night, but he bounced back strong as an ox!

“Our vet Adele has taken him home to care for, and once he’s old enough to fend for himself she will release him.

“The nurses named him Mr Mousey McMouseface, Adele has now named him Oliver Twist because he’s an orphan, and very hungry!

“Stay strong little fella and keep fighting!”
