Fortunate Mansfield end Lincoln City’s unbeaten run

Lincoln City 0-1 Mansfield Town Match Report

Lincoln City’s five-game unbeaten run came to an end after they lost to a fortunate Mansfield Town 1-0.

Over 9,500 fans crammed into Sincil Bank as Danny Rose scored the only goal of the game in the 61st minute, just three minutes after coming on as a substitute, condemning Lincoln to their first home league defeat since September 17, 2016.

The Imps had a number of chances in the first half, Billy Knott went close in the 14th minute when Matt Green rounded Stags’ goalkeeper Conrad Logan before finding Knott whose shot was blocked by a Mansfield defender.

Knott had another chance 15 minutes later, however his effort was once again blocked by a Mansfield defender.

Sean Raggett also had two headers comfortably saved by Logan in the first half.

Mansfield failed to create many opportunities throughout the game, however the deadlock was broken after Hayden White’s inch-perfect cross found the head of Rose who nodded home from four yards.

Lincoln pushed for an equaliser, however Steve Evans’ Mansfield frustrated the Imps and the day was summed up when Josh Ginnelly’s effort was well saved by Logan.

The Imps will now travel to Notts County on September 23.
