Imps bounce back with 2-1 victory over Barnet

Lincoln City 2-1 Barnet match report.

Lincoln City bounced back from their back-to-back defeats by beating Barnet 2-1 at Sincil Bank.

Ollie Palmer and Harry Anderson put The Imps 2-0 up in the first half before Shaquile Coulthirst brought one back for the visitors, however Lincoln were able to hold on to the victory.

The Imps started the game very brightly when Josh Ginnelly’s header went over the bar in the first minute.

Lincoln took the lead in the seventh minute, Palmer switched the ball onto his right-foot and his 20-yard effort beat Barnet keeper Craig Ross.

Lincoln doubled their lead in the 42nd minute when Anderson diverted Alex Woodyard’s cross into the net after some good play by Matt Green.

The home side never really got going in the second half, however Sean Raggett did have a header saved off the line and Jordan Maguire-Drew forced a good save from Ross.

Barnet brought a goal back when the Lincoln defence failed to deal with a ball in the box and Coulthirst’s volley beat goalkeeper Josh Vickers, who made his first league start after replacing Paul Farman in goal.

Lincoln held on well and secured the three points and will now travel to Grimsby Town on Saturday (September 30),

The game will kick off at an earlier time of 1pm.
