Two people have been injured and one man has been arrested following a serious collision in Lincoln in the early hours of this morning.

The crash, involving two cars, happened at around 1am on Saturday, September 9 on Newark Road, at the junction of Tiber Road.

The male driver of a red van involved in the incident was seriously injured and has been taken to hospital for treatment.

A female passenger who was travelling in a black 4×4 has also been seriously injured and taken to hospital.

The driver, a 32-year-old man from Newark, was not seriously injured and has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop following an accident and failing to provide a breath sample.

A third female passenger travelling in the vehicle sustained minor injuries.

A large section of the road has been closed while investigations are carried out.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: “If possible, please seek alternative routes in the area until enquiries are completed. Diversions are in place and we ask you to please avoid the area.

“If you were a witness to the collision and have not already spoken to police please contact us on the non-emergency number 101 quoting incident 18 of September 9.”
