Lincoln City held to goalless draw by Crawley Town

Lincoln City 0-0 Crawley Town match report.

A frustrated Lincoln City were held to a goalless draw against Crawley Town at Sincil Bank.

Matt Rhead came closest for The Imps after he hit the bar in the second half, however neither side created too many chances throughout the game.

This was the first time these sides has ever met before and it might be one to forget for both teams as Crawley looked to frustrate Lincoln by sitting deep and defending throughout.

Lincoln started the game brightly with Matt Green and Nathan Arnold both coming close for the hosts.

Rhead, making his first start since mid-September, was always an outlet for the Imps.

Josh Vickers produced two good saves from the visitors who rarely threatened in the first-half.

Neil Eardley put in an inch-perfect cross onto the head of Matt Rhead, however the striker saw his effort hit the bar.

Jimmy Smith’s goal-bound shot was tipped over by Vickers mid-way through the second half, however neither side could find a later winner.

The Imps will now travel to AFC Wimbledon next week ahead of the FA Cup first round.
