Warning after spate of shed and allotment burglaries in north Lincoln

This story is over

Lincolnshire Police have issued a warning to shed and allotment owners in Lincoln after a spike in break-ins and thefts in the north of the city.

Since the end of September, police have received reports of more than 20 incidents, mainly in the Burton Road and Yarborough Crescent areas.

Some of the sheds were on the allotment sites and others in private gardens. Garden tools, lawnmowers and strimmers are being targetted.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: “We are advising people to take extra security precautions, such as fitting shed alarms and marking property.

“Always report any suspicious activity, in particular if you see or hear of trying to sell garden equipment in unusual circumstances.

“We would like to hear from you if you have any information. There are a number of ways you can report:

  • Via the non-emergency number 101, quoting incident number 141 of October 3
  • Through the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
  • In an emergency always call 999″
