Police arrested a suspected drug driver after a two-vehicle smash on Upper Long Leys Road in Lincoln overnight.

Fire crews had to rescue one person from their vehicle following the crash on Tuesday, November 28 at around 7.30pm.

Officers arrested a man under suspicion of dangerous driving and for failing a drugs test sample.

Emergency responders closed the road for some time to deal with the wreckage.

People at the scene reported that a van and a BMW had been involved and that the van had ended up on its side.

There appeared to be significant damage to both vehicles.

Police did not give details on whether anyone had been seriously injured as a result of the incident.
