A Typhoon display pilot and Red Arrow will help bring festive cheer to Navenby next month as they switch on the Christmas lights.

Typhoon Display pilot Flight Lieutenant Jim Peterson and RAF Red 2 Flight Lieutenant Jon Bond will switch on the lights at an event on December 1 at Navenby Methodist Church, through the High Street.

The free event, which is organised by the Navenby and Cliff Villages business network, will include music and carols and late night shopping before the big switch on at 6.30pm.

Take a look at what’s on during the event:

  • 6pm-6.30pm: Music and carols from Silver Sounds
  • 6.30pm: Big switch on by special guests
  • 6.45-8.30pm: Late night shopping on the high street, Christmas trail stretching the whole of the high street with prizes donated from local businesses.

Co-chairs of the Navenby & Cliff Villages business network, Mindy Arora and Luke Daniels said: “We were in-undated with messages of support after our first attempt [last year] and the local businesses all agreed they had a positive experience.

“The event is free of charge to residents with all costs being absorbed by local businesses.

“We will be collecting for the local School FONS committee and the Jon Egging Trust as a thank you for the pilots giving up their own time.”

Typhoon Display Pilot Flt Lt Jim Peterson said: “I could not be happier to support this event, last year the atmosphere on the High Street was magical.”

RAF Red 2 Flt Lt Jon Bond added: “It’s always an honour to represent the air force and now of course the Red Arrows, particularly when the event is at a local level helping a charity closely association with my new job.”
