The Lincoln Christmas Market was declared officially open for 35th year under the spires of Lincoln Cathedral.

Crowds gathered before the twinkling tree at the front of the building for a special opening ceremony attended by the Dean of the cathedral Christine Wilson, the Mayor of Lincoln Councillor Chris Burke and a selection of honoured guests on Thursday, December 7.

A choir treated the audience to a section of carols and the organisers of the market looked ahead to the busiest weekend on the city events calendar.
