Green light for 187 homes in Sleaford

The development has been granted.

Plans for 187 new homes in Sleaford have been given the go-ahead by councillors.

Councillors on North Kesteven District Council’s planning committee approved proposals submitted by Taylor Lindsey Ltd on land off Town Road in Quarrington.

The development was granted with 12 councillors in favour, one against, and one abstention.

One in five of the new homes will be affordable, and the developers have committed to provide funding for bus services in the district.

There will be a mix of one bed apartments and two-four bed detached and semi-detached dwellings.

Despite the approval, some councillors had reservations about the development.

Conservative Councillor Geoff Hazelwood, who represents Sleaford, Quarrington and Mareham on the council, said that he had concerns about the infrastructure around the development with increased use from cars added to that of other developments already in the town.

Lincolnshire Independent Councillor David Suiter, representing Sleaford Navigation, raised his fears over a strain on GP surgeries in the area, asking when extra capacity would be generated.

Conservative Councillor Kate Cook, representing neighbouring Osbournby, added her concerns over traffic travelling through Silk Willoughby towards the bypass, which could impact on villagers.
