Hare coursers crash through farm gates in bid to escape police

An appeal for witnesses has been issued.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a car crashed into farm gates following reports of hare coursing near Spalding.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, December 27 officers responded to reports of hare coursing in the West Pinchbeck area.

In an effort to evade officers a silver Honda CR-V was driven across fields and through three sets of metal farm gates, causing significant damage.

The car was then abandoned near Willow Tree Fen Nature Reserve and the offenders made off, leaving a lurcher behind.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “Anyone that witnessed hare coursing in the area, has images of the people involved, or was visiting the Willow Tree Fen Nature Reserve at Tongue End at around 3.30pm is asked to contact PC James Perring at Spalding Police Station, quoting Incident 239 of December 27.

“The dog is being cared for in a kennel while we try to trace its owner.”
