Lincoln puts on free weekend parking for shoppers until Christmas

To make up for Lincoln Christmas Market Sunday closure

The City of Lincoln Council is offering free parking in uphill Lincoln every weekend until Christmas.

The council made the decision on Wednesday in light of the closure of the final day of the Lincoln Christmas Market and the feedback they received.

The free parking offer will be available 8am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday – 16 & 17, 23 & 24 December. It will cover car parks at The Lawn, Westgate 1, Westgate 2, Westgate 3 and St Paul’s Lane.

In addition to this offer, all city council car parks will be free to use between 5pm and 9.30pm on 14 and 18 – 23 December when using the www.paybyphone.co.uk app.

Angela Andrews, Chief Executive of City of Lincoln Council said: “We cannot emphasise enough how upset we are at having to close the Christmas Market one day early, and we totally empathise with local businesses as we know how much the Market brings to the local economy.

“We love Lincoln and we want to let our wonderful, unique businesses know that we will always try to do what we can to support them.

“Hopefully this parking offer will encourage those people looking for Christmas gifts to shop local and shop Lincoln.”
