Former Scunthorpe allotments earmarked for 85 homes

The sale of the land depends on planning permission.

An 85 new home development plan submitted for a former Scunthorpe allotment site will go before councillors.

Developer Gleeson Regeneration Limited submitted the plans for the scheme on land off Roman Way in Scunthorpe.

The local authority granted outline planning permission for a development on the site in February 2014.

The pending sale of the land to Gleeson is subject to planning approval.

Gleeson has proposed a mixture of detached and semi detached properties for the site and is also seeking planning approval for associated works.

The council’s planning officer has recommended that members of the authority’s planning committee approve the application subject to a section 106 agreement.

No objection has been lodged by Bottesford Town Council but ward member Councillor Steve Swift has called the application into committee on a matter of significant public interest.

Councillors will decide on the plans at a meeting at the Civic Centre, Ashby Road, on Wednesday, March 14.
