Lincolnshire Police staff will get two extra days off in wellbeing move

A first across the country.

Lincolnshire Police officers and staff will get two extra rest days per year in a move to improve wellbeing in the force.

This is the first time this ideas has been tried, as police staff tend to work longer hours than they are obliged to in a high-pressured job.

Chief Constable Bill Skelly hopes this will help to reduce sickness and improve levels of resilience across the force.

He said: “This is one of a number of initiatives that we will introduce over the next few months.

“I have been most impressed by the commitment of Lincolnshire Police staff and officers but I am increasingly seeing the impact that this can have on their physical and mental well-being.

“By encouraging our staff to take time to look after themselves I believe that we can make an improvement to how they feel at work.”

Earlier this year the Chief Constable also introduced fitness mentors to provide support and advise officers on how to get fit and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
