Dandy Lion Alehouse opening this Friday

Bar feel for former restaurant

The Dandy Lion Alehouse opens in Lincoln this Friday and owner Adam Kay is excited by his new venture.

The 43-year-old has previously owned four bars, most recently The Blue Bell Inn in Gringley-on-the-Hill near Gainsborough.

The Dandy Lion Alehouse will open from 4pm on Friday, May 18.

It will be the fourth business to occupy the unit on Newland in the city centre in the last six years, with Scarlet Red closing down in January 2018.

With 10 staff on board at The Dandy Lion Alehouse, there will be an emphasis on the drinks at the revamped premises with a range of six ales and other wines, beers and spirits on offer, as well as casual dining sharing platters.

All new beer and cask lines have been put in and the kitchen has been re-done and decorated.

The outside has been painted and the inside of the premises has also been decorated.

Adam Kay told The Lincolnite: “I am excited about the new venture in a vibrant city and I hope to build a nice loyal customer base.

“I believe I can offer a mix of both a pub and bar for all, with a good atmosphere, good service and good staff.

“I used to come to Lincoln quite regularly and all three of my kids were born here, and I like the city.

“I looked at other premises in other cities, but it is closer to home and I believe it has good potential.

“It will develop over time and I will gauge what people want, possibly live music and other things.”
