City councillors have elected Keith Weaver as the 812th Mayor of Lincoln.
The Conservative councillor was sworn in at a ceremony at The Guildhall today.
Councillor Weaver was the chair of the city council before his election as mayor and has been a member of the City of Lincoln Council since 2007.
He has been the councillor for Witham ward since 2016.
The new mayor was joined at the ceremony by the Mayoress, Jacqui Lane, the City Sherrif, Roy South, and the sheriff’s lady, Sandra South.
Previous Mayor of Lincoln, Chris Burke, and executive councillors also attended.
Mayor Weaver said that is was “very surreal” to be elected and chose the Sea Cadets of the Brayford and Bracebridge Boxing Club as his charities.
“Being a Bracebridge lad, the boxing club had to be one charity,” he said.
“The Deputy Mayoress and myself last year went twice to sea cadets and were absolutely astounded with the precision of the marking of little ones right up to the adults.”
