Nominations open for NK Community Champions

Unsung heroes of North Kesteven

North Kesteven District Council is looking for local people who go above and beyond for their community.

The NK Community Champions Awards will this year be hosted at the International Bomber Command Centre and compered by BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s Rod Whiting.

People can now nominate local heroes who volunteer their time to tirelessly help others and support the environment, arts, sport and a range of other good causes.

This year, as well as the other eight categories, North Kesteven District Council will introduce a New Award, the ‘Good Neighbour Award’.

This will recognise an individual who has gone over and above for their neighbours, helping them with day to day tasks, checking on them and generally being someone the neighbourhood couldn’t do without.

Council Chairman, Councillor Geoff Hazelwood said: “There is a significant amount of good work undertaken by countless individuals, groups and organisations right across the District, day in, day out all year round, helping our communities to flourish.

“These awards are an opportunity for us all to say thank you to all those unsung heroes from across North Kesteven and I encourage everyone to think about suitable people to nominate in recognition of their kindness, thoughtfulness and community-spirited generosity in support of others.”

A range of community-focused businesses are on board this year and any companies wishing to get involved in the celebration of NK’s Community Champions can get in touch on [email protected]
