Bomb hoax targets Lincolnshire schools

Several schools in the county have received a malicious bomb hoax, according to Lincolnshire Police.

A force spokesperson said: “We have received reports from 17 county schools this morning that they have received a malicious communication.

“This is currently being treated as a hoax and we are working with national agencies, and other forces, to investigate where the communications originate from.”

Any school receiving a similar message should report it by calling 101 or emailing [email protected] quoting reference number 62 of June 26.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “We have received reports from a number of schools across East Yorkshire this morning that they have received a malicious communication.

“This is being treated as a hoax and we’re working with national agencies and other forces to investigate who has sent the message.”

John O’Connor, Children’s Services Manager – Education Support at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “The police have received reports from a number of county schools who have been sent malicious communications.

“Police are working with national agencies and other forces to investigate where the communications have come from.

“We have contacted schools to offer reassurance and ensure they report any malicious emails to the police.”

This is not the first hoax incident this year as at least eight schools in Lincolnshire were sent a bomb threat email in April.

As previously reported, schools across Greater Lincolnshire also received fake bomb threats back in March with over 400 schools and colleges getting emails claiming that a device had been planted and demanding cash.
